A Guide to the Benefits of an Ayurveda Retreat at Ananda Yoga And Wellness Center

Ayurveda is based on the theory that our health is based on the collective balance of our body, mind and soul, Ayurveda is the heart of a natural and well-balanced lifestyle. Whether You are new to Ayurveda or you want to dive deeper into its purifying ocean, its ancient healing practices offer a wholesome approach to life.

What Is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of medicine based on a holistic and natural approach to physical and mental health. It is one of the oldest medical systems in the world and is still recognized throughout India as the country's primary form of treatment. It means "knowledge of life" and has a golden rule that says: like attracts like, opposites balance. Ayurveda believes that there are three main types of energy in everyone and everything. Pitta refers to the body's metabolic system, “Kapha” refers to body structure, and “Vata” refers to energy related to movement. This 5,000-year-old medical system is also based on the five elements that are believed to make up the basic human body. These 5 principles are air, water, earth, space, and fire. These factors, along with the delicate balance between mind, spirit, and body, are designed to help people live long and happy lives.

Since Ayurveda has been around for over 5,000 years, it is safe to say that it is a very positive practice with many benefits. In an Ayurvedic retreat, you begin by establishing your own "dosha" based on your body's primary energy type from the three above. After extensive research, you will receive an Ayurvedic health program that best suits your body, including diets, lifestyle changes, and mindsets.

Ayurveda Therapies for Stress Relief

According to Ayurveda, stress on the body and mind is the main cause of all problems in our lives be it Physical, mental, social, family, partnership, financial and spiritual problems. Without Shanti (peace of mind), we cannot enjoy all the good things in life. It doesn't matter if we have fame. Do we really appreciate and enjoy what we have? If not, what's the point of accumulating more? The yoga and Ayurveda taught at Ananda School of Yoga has one main purpose. It is about helping people appreciate and respect their own bodies and minds and all that they already have in this life. Body and mind are not two different things, but they are reflections of each other. All physical health problems have their roots in the mind. And all psychological stress and psychological fear are reflected in our physical body. The Ayurvedic approach to stress management focuses on removing stress from the nervous system while enhancing total body relaxation. Proper diet, yoga, pranayama, meditation and lifestyle changes offer a holistic approach along with Ayurvedic therapies that reduce the strain on the brain and nerves. The peaceful atmosphere of our School and Mother Nature not only nourishes the mind and body, but also restores the biorhythms of the body and the balance of the spirit. The stress management therapies offered in our school have a multi-faceted approach to addressing different aspects of the body and mind step by step

  • Level 1: Deeper relief of stress from various organs of the body.
  • Level 2: Improves cardiovascular system, blood circulation and vital capacity.
  • Level 3: Improves the nadis of the nervous system and prana bodies.
  • Level 4: Improves endocrine/hormonal balance. This is closely related to the emotional balance of the mind.

If you suffer from anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, or other mental health issues, this Ayurvedic stress management therapy may help, but it may not be enough.
